DON’T WORRY

Matthew 6:24-34
To all who carry burdens too heavy for one heart to hold—this Gospel is for you. Jesus tells us, “Do not be anxious about your life”. He is not asking us to pretend our struggles don’t exist, but He is inviting us to see life through the lens of faith. Worry often springs from the fear that we are alone, or that everything depends on us. But Jesus points us to the birds of the air and the lilies of the field—not because they’re free of trouble, but because they are held in the hands of a loving Father. So are we.
In a world of rising costs, uncertainty, and emotional strain, it can feel impossible to live without anxiety. But Jesus isn’t just giving us a command; He is offering a relationship—an invitation to trust in a God who sees, knows, and provides. “Your heavenly Father knows what you need”. He doesn’t promise a life without storms, but He does promise to be in the boat with us. Like St. Aloysius Gonzaga, who gave up wealth and comfort to serve the sick and poor during a plague, we are reminded that peace is not found in possessions, but in surrender.
When Jesus says, “Seek first the kingdom of God…”, He’s showing us the way out of anxiety: not by controlling more, but by trusting more. Let today’s troubles be enough for today. Let us surrender tomorrow into the hands of the One who holds eternity. If God is taking care of the sparrows, surely He will never forget His children.
Blessings
Fr. Jhack
